Since Zip's condition got overshadowed by Glory's smackdown last episode, I figured I would bring it up again... and close the plot-hole of not contacting Elm about it, haha.
I thought about making it snow because in the newer games, it's always raining in that route. But it's obviously cold since everybody's wearing thick clothes, so..... hello, winter!
